Editor’s Note: The Cosmotographers of the Cosmos Club sponsored a juried photographic “Salon” at the Club in February 2001. All Club members and their immediate families were invited to participate. In part, the exhibit served as a time capsule that reflected traditional as well as innovative photographic techniques. Subject matter included landscapes, still life, wildlife, people, and cities. In short, the entire gamut of photographic effects and subject matter was invited for entry. The photographs featured here received “Special Mention,” and were selected for inclusion in Cosmos 2001 by the judging committee. In addition, we’ve asked four members of the Club to offer their thoughts on the history, science, and art of photography. Their contributions follow the “Special Mention” photographs from the February 2001 exhibit. —GSR |
